NWRCAs 2022: Congratulations to our Contractor Framework Partners & Clients!

On Thursday 21st July 2022, North West Construction Hub, our Contractor Partners and Clients attended the sixteenth North West Regional Construction Awards. This is the most significant celebration of best practice and best value in the North West- the only event of its kind that connects every single discipline of construction working towards a sustainable built environment. Huge congratulations to all of our Contractor Partners and Clients for your success as follows:

Client of the Year

WINNER: Knowsley Council – Nominated by Kier Construction

“In order to deliver a unique project, the client had to develop an exceptional collaborative vision and significant background research undertaken to ‘get it right’ first time. What resulted is an excellent example of end-to-end importance of project management, the creation of strong governance and a focus on best in class from design, through construction to social value and local economic impact. Without this leading example of client leadership and behaviour the delivery of Shakespeare North – a replica of the Cockpit-in-Court, designed for Charles I by architect Inigo Jones 1629 – would not have been possible!”

 Contractor of the Year

WINNER: Morgan Sindall Construction

“In an extremely competitive category this company won through due to the strength of the evidence provided in the submission. It is clear that staff are the main focus of the business, where development and talent is key to their operations. The company is on route to achieve net zero carbon by 2030 which is highly impressive.

The judges were presented with a range of evidence of significant contributions to supporting UK business, to supporting Climate Change initiatives and through enduring 100% safety.”

Integration and Collaborative Working Award

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Paddington Village Hotel

Organisations involved:

Morgan Sindall Construction – Liverpool City Council – Faithful+Gould – Legacy Hotels and Resorts Ltd – Ryder Architects – North West Construction Hub

People Development Award

WINNER: Kier Construction: Performance Excellence

“One of the judges commented this is ‘almost a manual on how to do it!’

The submission demonstrates an outstanding array of development and inclusion measures across the whole business that has been externally accredited. This is an exemplar of how a leading UK contractor can demonstrate excellence in the way it attracts, develops, and maintains critical resources and develops people. The roadmap and targets for success are clearly defined for the next 5 years.”

 Net Zero Award

WINNER: Chester Community Fire Station – Cheshire Fire Authority (ISG)

“This winning submission demonstrated to the judge’s class-leading practice in meeting net-zero carbon targets through the incorporation of a range of highly-efficient design features and ‘fabric first’ approach. Furthermore, engagement across both the project and community was evident, as was the transferability of the innovation and the lessons learnt across project – which is still facilitating continuous improvement. This project provides an exemplar project to learn from with performance in-use already exceeding target.”

Liverpool Sub-Regional Project of the Year

WINNER: Shakespeare North Playhouse (Kier Construction)

“A brilliant submission, demonstrating performance across a wide range of constructing excellence principles. Collaboration was the key with the challenges of the project being met directly through co-location. To successfully deliver this unique project the client has to conduct significant background research to ‘get it right’ first time. What resulted is an excellent example of the end-to-end importance of project management, the creation of strong governance and a focus on best in class from design, through construction to social value and local economic impact.”
